"A moorland summit steeped in witch trial history with sweeping Pennine views"

About

Pendle Hill is one of Lancashire's most distinctive landmarks — a great whaleback of moorland rising to 557m above the Ribble Valley. Famous as the setting for the 1612 Pendle Witch Trials (the largest in English history), the hill combines gripping dark history with spectacular walking. From the summit on a clear day you can see Blackpool Tower, the Yorkshire Dales, and the Irish Sea. The surrounding villages — Downham, Barley, and Sabden — are among Lancashire's prettiest, seemingly untouched by time.
